Manila ManiLAH Costume - Option 1

Hi Psalmis,

The Costume Committee is pleased to present options for our Manila ManiLAH concert wardrobe which will be open for your voting.

Taking on from the initial line-up of songs, each option consists of 2 sets of costume combination as our repertoire will be performed in 2 parts. The first part will showcase most of the regional/ethnic/Filipino folk songs hence, the Filipiniana costume. We will then move on to perform the more contemporary songs which will be matched by the choir's 'current' look.

As you vote, please be mindful of the following guiding principles/objectives:

1. To achieve an overall look for the choir which exudes simplicity and elegance.
Each option includes both gender's costume. The plan is to vote for the overall look/combination which you feel is appropriate. We've worked out the proper combinations so we are just leaving it up to the group to decide which you think would be the best.

2. To come up with a costume which can be used for future Psalmideo singing engagements/performances.

SET 1

As the regional/ethnic/folk songs to be performed in this set varies (ie. in color, texture, mood, message, etc.),we believe a black barong aptly combines with the women's Filipiniana gown as it tones down our very festive Christmas 2009 look. We think this also adds sophistication and elegance to our look.

FIRST SET: FILIPINIANA
Men's Costume: Black Barong + Black Pants
Women's Costume: Filipiniana Gown
Conductor: Ecru Barong + Black Pants

SET 2
We take this opportunity to come up with a contemporary costume that is not only simple and elegant but also practical in that this will serve as Psalmideo's main costume for future gigs.

From experience, black pants and tube is the most frequent and common outfit we pull for our gigs so we decided to go for a similar design for women. The fabric will be carefully selected to show some sheen and not be a flat matte dead black.

Needless to say, the men might need to shell out a bit if the group decides to go ahead with Option1 as they would have to pay for a barong + 3pc suit. Quotations will be provided as soon as info is available.

SECOND SET: CONTEMPORARY
Men's Costume: Black Suit + Black Pants + Inner Shirt
Women's Costume: Pant + Tube + Jacket (with shimmer or glitter)
Conductor: Black Suit with Tail + Black Pants + Inner Shirt
